What is neurodiversity profile mapping?

WayMakers has a license to use the Do-IT neurodiversity profiling tool in our work. This is a ‘screener’ that captures a holistic picture of your strengths and challenges. It identifies traits and patterns across the neurodiversity spectrum. These can relate to:
  • dyslexia
  • dyspraxia
  • autism
  • ADHD
  • sensory needs
  • executive functioning: working memory, personal organisation, time management etc.
The ‘maps’ we create combine:
  • the information you share with us during the initial booking process,
  • the outcomes from your Do-IT reports,
  • any additional details arising during our consultation.
Together, we then co-create a bank of strategies that are actionable that very day, and adjustments that might benefit you at work.

    Is this right for me?

    You may have encountered obstacles in life that prompt curiosity about your wiring. This might be your first step towards seeking a diagnostic assessment – or perhaps you aren’t keen or ready to pursue a diagnosis. Waiting times and/or the cost of a formal assessment may also be a deterrent.

    Whichever it is, this service enables you to understand yourself better and feel better equipped to move forwards.

    Our intention is for you to learn more about you:

    Uniquely You

    Gain a clearer picture of your own unique ‘spiky profile’.

    Develop Insights

    Develop insights into how elements of your wiring may contribute to certain experiences.

    Tools & Strategies

    Explore strategies and tools to benefit you in work, study or in day-to-day life.

    Adjustments

    Build a toolkit of ‘adjustments’ that you may wish to request at work or in education.

    What are the benefits?

    At the end of our work together you might:
    • understand yourself better;
    • are more aware of your strengths;
    • have an improved sense of your place and value in the world;
    • have a better grasp of how to manage specific challenges more effectively;
    • feel better able to tune into and manage your emotions;
    • feel more confident;
    • feel able to be more independent;
    • feel more motivated and secure in your aspirations;
    • feel more able to achieve your goals;
    • feel happier and more effective in your job;
    • have more knowledge to share with those around you – this might be especially impactful at work.

    The DoIT Profiling tool provides the screening tools to maximise each person’s outcomes, helping you to embrace neurodiversity, inclusion and wellbeing.

    How does it work?

    STAGE 1: We give you access to the DoIT platform. You work through the questions in your own time.

    STAGE 2: We meet for a 2 hour consultation, in person or over a video call.

  1. When we meet, we unpack the DoIT outcomes bit by bit. We present the findings in a visually accessible format and explore their contexts.
  2. We co-create a table of strategies and adjustments for you. These can be implemented right away, making life more accessible and enjoyable.
  3. We provide a report that is a dynamic document. You can share this with a tutor or line manager if you wish. You should revisit it and revise the content at intervals as your needs and circumstances change.
  4. What are the costs?

    The fee is currently £525. We will let you know if we secure further grant funding to subsidise this cost.

    What our clients’ say

    It was very impactful and useful to have my neurodiversity laid out so clearly in charts and diagrams, and to feel myself being explained and understood in a safe space. I am grateful to you for the way you delivered the information and helped me grasp the significance and implications of it for me and my life.

    Neurodiversity Profile Mapping Client

    The final report has allowed me to visualise my neurodivergent traits. Being able to talk about my difficulties to a supportive person, to understand the differences across different neurodivergent needs, and having a profile from a professional has given me the courage to go back to seeking NHS help.

    Neurodiversity Profile Mapping Client

    This experience made me feel listened to. For years, I had thought my problems were due to moderate dyslexia and I have seen my neurodivergent traits as failures of character.

    I felt affirmed by our meeting and have a sense of my authentic self stepping out of the shadows, where for too long I have been lurking in self doubt and confusion with a debilitating sense of failure and ‘wrongness’. I feel more hopeful about being able to live authentically from now on, and achieve my potential.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Will the Neurodiversity Profile Mapping tool give me a diagnosis?
    No. The profile report will give you a better understanding of yourself. It highlights your strengths, the areas that you may find more challenging, and some ways to manage these.

    Profile mapping is not ‘proof’ of diagnosed needs. It enhances your understanding of your wiring and current needs. As a result, it provides actionable guidance to support your wellbeing and performance at work.
    Why can't I go directly to DoIT to complete the profile screening?
    You can. Bear in mind you will get a less comprehensive report that way.

    The scope of the reports that licensed providers such as WayMakers offer is more in-depth. They also include features not available to those purchasing an individual license directly.

    WayMakers also develop things one step further:
    During our meeting with you, we unpack all the DoIT findings and present these in a very visual format. With you, we create tailored, actionable support strategies to address your individual challenges.

    This brings together your understanding of your profile with the practical steps that answer your “what now” questions.

    Is there funding to help me pay for the Profile Mapping service?

    Not currently. However, we hope to secure funding in 2024 to subsidise the cost and make it more accessible to all.
